In 2004 the Peace Center of Nevada County Sponsored me to apply for a vignette at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show to demonstrate the Seed of Life Garden. Jeffrey Caspary, a farmer from Santa Cruz, was a driving force in building the display and organizing the project. We were in the non-profit wing of the show and thousands of people were exposed to the design. It was here that the encouragement of dozens of people solidified my resolve to promote the use of the pattern as a methodology for catalyzing sustainability.

The range of comments that the display generated was huge.  A math teacher saw a practical application for geometry that would benefit her students, a designer of alternative communities saw a way to organize a large number of people around an organic farming effort, a social worker saw landscaped flowers with terraced petals filling in vacant lots in inner cities, I saw hope sparkling into creative solutions in the light behind their eyes.

Family needs kept the Seed of Life Garden Project from being represented at the Cow Palace in 2005 but the application to demonstrate in 2006 was accepted. It is our intention to illustrate its value to the implementation of the Wellness Policy in the California School System.
